Lukas Graham fans would get a kick of seeing the hit music video 7 Years in a different color…that is IN COLOR by the use of an artificial intelligence algorithm.
Watch the video below and then you can learn how this was done and even do it on your own for your actual photos.
So how was the music video colorized by AI?
It isn’t any voodoo magic or witchcraft, rather a deep learning algorithm which classifies the objects and regions within an image and provides an appropriate color for each automatically.
This is possible thanks to an easy to use web app for individual images, but to make an actual video (and not go frame by frame separately), Ron Zoharused a trained network, as was also used when he colorized a scene from Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator (update: video was removed).
As mentioned in previous post, the team behind the actual colorization algorithm are UC Berkeley students led by Richard Zhang.
So now it’s time to ask your parents or grandparents for their old photo albums, and bring those nostalgic photos to life in a brand new color.
On another note, if you come across other awesome creations that were done using an artificial intelligence algorithm…we would love to hear about them.
